American Shocker
Attleboro Museum of Art in Attleboro, Massachusetts, U.S.A. has the show "County," for the U.S. 250th anniversary. There are all kinds of works - some just beautiful landscapes, some political, some nostalgic. I loved Michelle Brown's Disunion, a diptych showing U.S. monuments in Washington, D.C. in their untouched state on one side, and then as sites of protest on the other. However, my favorite piece was Stephanie Elliott's "Americana," which I won't show, as you should see it as I did. It looked like a simple folk painting, so I almost breezed past. Then I read the label and found it's a work of depth and symbolism. There are horrible things to account for in this frozen time capsule. It blew me away. Go see. https://attleboroartsmuseum.org/https://attleboroartsmuseum.org/country/
